The "spinal chord" of the yellow path is the rue de la Chaîne, which structures the whole north west part of the promontory. The street, following a very steep slope, has much charm, displaying the narrow façades of houses along a sinuous curve, with inner courtyards and gardens appearing once and a while.
Before it concerned the entire plateau, this old neighbourhood was the first protected historical sector in Poitiers.
Take your time along the yellow path, stop and see the small squares along the way : place de la Liberté (with a miniature replica of the famous statue by Bartholdi !), place Saint-Germain, in front of the auditorium and place Montierneuf which opens onto the abbey church of Saint-Jean concluding the circuit.
